18th century Frisian chatelaine consisting of scissors, a pincushion and a needle case made by an unknown silversmith.

Chatelaines were worn by women with traditional costumes in Friesland.

The cast skirt hook is beautifully decorated with floral motifs and a praying figure.

The skirt hook is robust and measures 3.5 x 10 cm.

The pincushion has a diameter of 5.5 cm and is set in a silver setting.

The needle case is decorated with a flower figure and has a sliding lid.

All parts hang on jasseron chains.

The chatelaine is unmarked, suggesting the silversmith evaded tax. This set was likely made in a smaller village, not a city.

Dating ca. 1780 - 1800.

In good condition.

Total weight: 228 grams. Length: 28 to 66 cm.
