18th Century silver cutlery made by the silversmith Hendrik Jan Spanjer from Groningen.
Both the fork and the spoon are hallmarked with master hallmark HIS in contour. Furthermore, the spoon is hallmarked with year letter 6F for 1730/1731, the fork is hallmarked with 6/H for 1732/1733.
Finally, the fork is marked with the letter A. This was used by the collector/jeweler Louis Anholt.
The spoon was probably given in honor of a marriage, a so-called wedding spoon. It is engraved with the initials of the bride and groom: GH and JA. The fork has the initials HvWB and could be a birth fork.
The fork is worn.
Spoon length: 20 cm. Fork length: 19 cm. Weight: 92.7 grams
