Silver cake server, made by the silversmith Pieter Pieterse from Amsterdam. He was active from 1846 to 1870.

He was known as an absolute master silversmith and a 'grootwerker' (maker of large pieces such as tea sets, baskets, and trays). From 1855, he led the prestigious workshop of the famous silver house As. Bonebakker & Zoon in Amsterdam. Almost all of his work was sold exclusively through this fashion house.

The large, openwork leaf shapes in the bowl not only gave the server a chic appearance but also ensured that the spoon remained extremely light and did not damage the delicate, airy structure of the cake or create a vacuum during serving.

The server is hallmarked with the first standard mark, maker's mark PP anchor, year letter h for 1867, and the Minerva head.
The server features very refined, hand-sawn openwork in the bowl and a neat engraving (meander border) on the handle.

In excellent condition.

Weight: 63.7 grams. Dimensions: 6.5 x 20 cm.
