William Peaston specialized in making large silver, trays and salvers, but other large cutlery items by him have also been preserved.

It is hallmarked with the sterling silver mark, the London city mark, the maker's mark WP and the date letter 'j' for 1753.

In the centre of the salver is an (faded) family crest engraved with a stork.

The salver is robust and heavily made, and in excellent condition.
