Silver cabarat standing on 4 arched feet. Possibly made by Reinder Harmannus Hofman from Grijpskerk (province of Groningen). In his period before 1807 he used the master mark RH. This silversmith worked until ca. 1826.
In Groningen, from 1725 onwards, the master's mark was struck twice as proof of the highest silver content.
No work is known from the early period of Reinder Harmannus Hofman, making it difficult to compare.
A similar example is mentioned in Bonham's book as colonial silver made by John Hunt & Co of Calcutta as a teapot holder from 1808.
The cabaret is in good condition.
Weight: 189 grams. Dimensions: 2.5 x 14 x 18.5 cm.
