Silver brandy bowl, L. Guidon, Groningen, 1698

A 17th century, eight-lobed, typical Groningen model brandy bowl made by the master blacksmith Lodewijk Guidon, active from 1695 to 1709.

The bowl is placed on an eight-lobed foot. An alliance coat of arms is engraved on the bowl, with only the P still legible.

The brandy bowl has S-shaped handles topped by a dragon's head.

The bowl is hallmarked with master mark LG and date letter 4 - W for 1698/1699. The silver content of the bowl is 934/1000.

The brandy bowl is of museum quality. 1 Ear appears to have earlier restoration traces.
