Special set with complete 18th century Bible lock (mute, clamp arm and attachment) and 4 front corner pieces.
The mutineer and the attachment have been hallmarked by Willem Ernens from Hoorn. The city hallmark of Hoorn has also been rejected. The cleat arm depicts the high priest on the mutineer, the evangelist Matthew (with boy or angel) and the attachment, the evangelist Luke (with ox).
The inscription on the clamp arm is: A 1784.
The 4 corner pieces have the master's mark of Everwijn Knolleman, also from Hoorn.
He worked from around 1760 until after 1813. Four female figures are depicted on the 4 cast corner pieces. In each of which it can be determined that the themes are: victory (palm branch and gaff), vigilance (torch), confidence (bird in hand) and wisdom? has been displayed.
A nice complete set like this is not often offered.
