Silver buckle bag, LJ Ringnalda, Bolsward, 1753
Silver buckle bag, LJ Ringnalda, Bolsward, 1753
Frisian silver purse from 1753 made by Laurens Jacobs Ringnalda from Bolsward. (Foot 350). He was included in the guild book in 1729 and worked until 1775. In Bolsward he was alderman and mayor. He lived from 1717 to 1786.
Silver from this master is quite rare. He can be recognized by the master's mark LI which is also stamped in this bag. He also left his signature on the inside of the clasp. Very finely written: Lauwerens Jacobs Rignalda 1753 Boalsert. (See photo)
The bracket is beautifully embossed with curl decoration and two birds on either side. These birds also appear on the bag. The closure consists of a child's head.
The back is smooth. On it is engraved: Saapke Jacobs, 1753.
The bag was probably added to the bracket later because it is still in such good condition.
Weight: 199 grams. Dimensions: 17.5 x 26 cm. Bag handle: 17.5 x 13 cm.
