Silver buckle bag, B. Ples, Kampen, 1877

Silver buckle bag from 1877 made by silversmith Barteld Ples from Kampen. He worked from 1865 to 1921.

This silversmith was born in Vollenhove in 1829 and married Lummiena Kuijlman from Kampen, he was a watchmaker and also a gold and silversmith. The shop was run from Oudestraat 160.

Silver from this master is quite rare. He can be recognized by the master's mark BP13 which is also stamped in this bag. Furthermore, the bag is marked with the second content mark, Minerva head G for Zwolle and date letter S for 1877.

The bracket is beautifully embossed with curl decoration and two birds on either side. The beaded bag is decorated with flowers. Beautiful piece of handicraft.

The back is smooth.
