Zeeland silver travel knife, C. Mark, Middelburg, 19th century

Zeeland travel knife with allegorical depiction on the handle and crowned by a stylized dog as a sign of loyalty. The larger the knife, the greater the status of a bearer. The knife has a length of almost 23.5 cm and weighs: 64.4 grams.

The silver handle is marked with the master mark CM70 from C. Mark (or Murk) from Middelburg. This silversmith worked from 1841 to 1856. Also hallmarked with the sword.

Only the handle measures 11 cm.

The knife is in good condition.
