Zeeland paeremes, Hooijkaas / Schoonhoven, 19th century.

Huge Zeeland paeremes with allegorical depiction on the handle. The status of the wearer was measured by the knife he carried. This knife therefore indicated a high status.

The knife handle has been hallmarked with 12 (!) silver hallmarks and is therefore an interesting collector's item.

First of all, the Dutch pseudo-quality marks used by Hooijkaas and then the English import marks.

The knife is marked with the ^1st grade mark, standing lion, with key as export mark.

Further inspected with SBL for Boyce Landeck from London. Import mark F and year letter f for 1901.

Finally, the Minerva head has been knocked off on the handle.

As a reward, a little dog has been installed. This is missing.

The knife has a length of: 33 cm and a weight of: 242.3 grams.
