Beautiful knife from the second half of the 17th century. An original iron blade from Schagen (knife makers since the 16th century) set in a heavy silver cast handle that depicts mother's love. The knife is in a leather sheath, beautifully decorated with a tulip and bird figure.
Unapproved, which was common in that period. Most knives were made in Amsterdam at the time. Similar knife found in Klaus Marquardt's book Eight Centuries of European Knives, Forks and Spoons (p. 107, image 330).
