Knife with silver handle, W. Vosmeer, Gouda, 18th century

^18th Century silver knife with band decoration (curl and leaf motifs with image of fisherman and village decoration with mill). On the back a horse with rider as a crowning achievement.

The knife was made by the silversmith Willem Vosmeer from Gouda. Active from 1709 to 1755. Several knives are known from his hand.

The knife is hallmarked with the master hallmark unicorn, city hallmark of Gouda and a difficult to read year letter, possibly N for 1718 or 1742.

The steel blade was added later and is not original.

The initials HAV and PHV are engraved on the knife handle.

The knife is in good condition.
