Large silver miniature of a three-master on a rocking stand made by Jan Postmus. Jan Postmus was an active silversmith between 1899 and 1955. He was registered in Amsterdam, Alphen aan de Rijn, and Hoorn. He became particularly famous for his openwork baskets (such as the well-known 'peacock baskets') and high-quality silver miniatures.

This is a very detailed, elaborate three-master. The model is equipped with full sails.

On the deck, miniature figures (sailors/crew) can be seen, including one at the helm, which greatly enhances the liveliness and craftsmanship of the piece.

The miniature is hallmarked with the second-grade mark, Minerva head P for Alkmaar, year letter I for 1918, and the master's mark J2P.

Rocking boats of this size and level of detail were often made as prestige pieces or luxury gifts at the time.

The miniature is in excellent condition.

Weight: 116.2 grams. Dimensions: 15 x 17 cm.
