Rare 18th-century gold filigree lock with garnet chain – Albertus van Haasel, Amsterdam

A very rare and high-quality 18th-century gold filigree chain lock with four strings of garnets , made by the Amsterdam goldsmith Albertus van Haasel . Van Haasel worked between 1761 and 1805 and was known as a specialist in making rings and chain locks . He lived and worked on Goudsbloemstraat in Amsterdam.

The refined clasp is crafted from 22-karat gold (916/1000) and is richly decorated with fine filigree. The object bears the master mark of Albertus van Haasel (hare) and the Amsterdam city hallmark , confirming its provenance and quality. The clip is made of silver.

The four strands of natural garnets are harmoniously linked to the gold clasp, creating an elegant and characteristic example of 18th-century Dutch jewelry . Such original chain clasps by renowned Amsterdam masters are extremely rare on the current art and antiques market.
