Frisian silver brandy bowl, ca. 1780

Robust and heavy Frisian brandy bowl with curl and leaf motifs. The bowl has two handles with putti around a flower basket.

The bowl is beautifully hand-driven and both handles feature key strokes.

The bowl is hallmarked with only the dolphin tax hallmark used between 1859 and 1953.

Judging by the key strokes, decoration and finish, the bowl dates from the late 18th century.
