Frisian silver travel knife with embossed decoration of curl motifs.

Made by silversmith Rintje Posthumus from Leeuwarden in 1790. This silversmith worked from approximately 1784 to 1797.

The knife is provided with the master mark RP: (Foot 530).

The knife handle is finely crafted, with a woman with a bird and an anchor on one side, symbolizing the soul and the hope within us. On the other side , a woman with a staff represents wisdom. A staff was the symbol of the earthly pilgrimage.

The steel blade is original.

The knife is crowned with a small horse. There's a small crack in it. (See the photos for this.)

The knife has the inscription: Pyter tom (?) 1790
