The Faithful Disciple of Jesus Christ or the Roman Catholic by the Rev. Mr. Bulo from 's-Hertogenbosch, JJ Arkesteyn & Son with 18th century silver locks and corner pieces made by Jan van van der Tas Junior and Jan van der Tas Senior from Leiden.

Jan van der Tas junior was active from 1780 to 1818 and used the arrow as his master mark.

Jan van der Tas senior worked from 1760 to 1807, using an anvil as his master stamp.

They both worked in Leiden. A special fitting that both father and son worked on.

The silver is further hallmarked with the key as city hallmark of Leiden and date letter D for 1787.

Not much silver from either of these gentlemen has been preserved.

The book and the silver fittings are in excellent condition.

The book was given as a baptismal gift to Catharina van der Krogt on June 6, 1862 or during her first communion on April 14, 1874.

The silver is therefore approximately 100 years older than the book.

Book dimensions: 10 x 16 x 4.5 cm. Weight: 518.2 grams.
