Gitten necklace with silver clasp, J.S. Saton, Schoonhoven, approx. 1870

Necklace with 4 strands of jet beads with a diameter of approx. 5 mm on a 3-part silver clasp with an onyx. Made by the silversmith J.S. Saton from Schoonhoven. He was active from 1861 to 1888.

The silver clasp is set with a large Onyx with a small silver ornament on top.

The clasp is hallmarked with the 'sword' mark for at least 2nd grade silver, also marked with master's mark J.*S.

The necklace has been restrung, so it is perfectly wearable.

Weight: 46.2 grams

Length: 35.5 cm when closed. This necklace should be worn tightly around the neck.
