19th Century Bible published by the Dutch Bible Compagnie in Amsterdam, J. Brandt and Son in Haarlem, Johannes Enschedé and sons from 1870.
The Bible has two silver locks made by ST Reitsma from Lemmer / Sneek. He was active from 1841.
The locks are hallmarked with the second hallmark, minerva head, master hallmark R with hammer and year letter u for 1854. The locks close at the bottom / inside. This is quite unusual for Bible locks.
The initials GE and the year 1855 are engraved on the inside of the cleat arms.
The Bible is in good used condition. The locks were a bracelet as can be seen from the holes on the side and were remade into Bible locks. See picture.
