18th Century large Bible from the publisher: Joh. Enschede & Zoonen, Haarlem, from 1778. On the second page as date indication: 1774. Psalms date from: 1776.
The style of the locks and fittings breathes Groningen. The locks have been inspected with the master mark LW, which probably stands for Lodewijk or Ludovicus Wijnants. He worked from Sappemeer (province of Groningen) in the period from 1768 to his death in 1808.
The cleat is engraved with 1807
There is an old letter and old poems in the Bible. Also a number of pages with family chronicles.
The four virtues are depicted on the mutineers and the attachments and wisdom is depicted on the cleats.
There is also silver fittings all around.
The Bible is in used condition. The silverware is in good condition, but the book block shows defects, see the photos.
