19th Century Bible published by the Dutch Bible Compagnie in Amsterdam, J. Brandt and Son in Haarlem, Johannes Enschedé and sons from 1870.
The Bible has two large silver clasps in Biedermeier style that do not close directly at the cover, as usual, but have a raised edge. This gives them a wider front than the Bible. These locks are very rare.
The finely crafted silver locks were made by Jacobus Johannes Lazonder from Schoonhoven. He worked from 1857 to 1880.
The locks have been hallmarked with the second quality hallmark, master hallmark JL20 and year letter I for 1868.
The Bible is in good condition. Spine has a few tears, see photo.
