This is a set of two antique silver vegetable or serving spoons hallmarked in The Hague in 1893, made by the renowned silversmith C. Hooijkaas Jr. He was active from 1868 to 1919.

Cornelis was born into a true silversmith family. His father, Jan Hooijkaas, trained his five sons in the craft from a very young age (often from ten years old). While his brother Herbert Hooijkaas founded the legendary Schoonhoven Silver Factory H. Hooijkaas in 1874, Cornelis chose his own successful path.

He mainly made large silver items (such as tea sets, bread baskets, and heavy cutlery) for the wealthy citizens and nobility of The Hague.

The serving spoons are hallmarked with the second standard mark, maker's mark CH12, Minerva head, and year letter I for 1893.

Vegetable or serving spoons were often sold in pairs and are larger than a regular tablespoon.

They are in good condition.

Weight: 158.7 grams. Length: 26 cm.
