Collection: Silver from 1814
From 1814 onwards, the Dutch silver system underwent a thorough reform. Assay offices were established, and every piece of silver was henceforth centrally assayed with a fineness mark (800, 835, or 925/1000), a Minerva head, a date letter, and a maker's mark, thus guaranteeing its origin and quality.
The 19th century brought a rich succession of styles: the clean lines of the Empire, the domestic elegance of Biedermeier, and the ornamental opulence of Romanticism. Each piece in this collection reflects the taste and craftsmanship of its time. Here you will find table silver, jewellery, and utilitarian objects, each with proven origin and assay marks.
