Romance. Approx. 1865 – 1900
The style of Romanticism actually begins in the 18th century and can be divided into early Romanticism (until 1830), high Romanticism (1830-1850) and late Romanticism (1850-1890). At the end of the 19th century, however, feeling and imagination increasingly returned to the craftsman. Silversmiths are appreciating the 18th century again and many silversmiths are returning to this period in terms of expression, of course with all the 'modern' tools available to them in this 'new' time. The locks below fit exactly into this time period and were made by the silversmith D. de Gilde Koppenol from Schoonhoven. He used this hallmark from 1883 to 1889.
