Empire style. Approx. 1790-1830
The next style, which gained a foothold mainly at the beginning of the 19th century, is the Empire style. The Empire style (neoclassical art movement) is originally a purely French style that originated in Paris. The style flourished after the French Revolution with Napoleon as the driving force. He was a lover of Egyptian, Greek and Roman culture. These elements were reflected in silversmithing. For example as a vase element, but also by forging silver with ribbed lines with flowing contours. The Bible locks below were made in 1818 in the characteristic Empire style.
