Hij overleefde de turbulente Franse tijd en de overgang naar het nieuwe Nederlandse koninkrijk, en paste zijn stijl telkens feilloos aan de heersende mode aan. Remmers stond bekend om zijn oog voor detail bij verfijnde gebruiksvoorwerpen. Tot zijn oeuvre behoren luxe kurkentrekkers (vaak gecombineerd met paarlemoer), zilveren vonkenvangers voor stenen tabakspijpen, pillendoosjes en verfijnd schepwerk zoals theeduimen en suikerscheppen. Het met precisie uitgezaagde en geponste ajourpatroon is versierd met geometrische motieven en sierlijke sterretjes. De gekartelde en geschulpte rand rondom de bak geeft het geheel een dynamische en luxe uitstraling.
